TSS Engine Stainless Bolt Kit

For under $40 ($34.95), you can pick up this nice accessory bolt kit for your Z. The kit replaces the fender bolts, hood hinge bolts, bumper/air box bolts, hood switch bolts, safety latch bolts, battery bracket bolt, and a few hidden headlight bracket bolts under the headlight flap (not seen in pics). I purchased a similar set for my Z32 (non-TSS) after seeing one installed on another car. I liked it enough to get this set for my Z31. The look is distinctive and refined, yet subtle enough for those who generally don't like bling.

Installation is very simple, especially with some t-handle hex wrenches. You can take some extra time and polish them up to a brilliant shine, or keep the brushed look, which I actually like better. A couple bolts are a bit tricky, particularly the vertical ones to the left and right of the radiator hose and airbox respectively. Install bolts one at a time, especially for hood hinge. Though some stainless steels are non-magnetic (austhenitic, often medical grade), the 17-7 stainless used on these bolt heads is magnetic -- have your magnet tool ready in case you drop one here and there. The finishing washers have a different steel composition and are less magnetic, so be careful not to drop them. Even with a good, powerful magnet, the one I dropped was tough to recover.

The only thing I wish about this set is that the bolts were a bit longer. Though they will all fasten with relative ease, some only get a few threads turned into the original holes before being set. On my Z32 set, some of the bolts almost seemed to long, but they all set down into the threads completely.
