Center Console
Covered console. I just
bought some vinyl and went to it. You have to remove the panel
UNDERNEATH by removing all the screws. Then you'll have easy access
for recovering. If your console padding is still moderately good, you
can give the top a shave. My Dad had previously cut off the thrashed
top half of the console lid with a bandsaw, for example, then painted
it with a flat black several times, and this gave it a good surface
for putting on the new vinyl.
If your console padding is
considerably worn, like down to the plastic, you can chose to rip all
the foam off the center console and start from scratch. To do this,
remove the lid, remove all the screws from the bottom of the lid, and
remove the inside panel. Then, use a razor blade to trace just outside
the area of the foam that is FUSED into the plastic. Them remove the
foam and recover as you wish.
